The Greek communities of the vilayet of Aidin (Smyrna)

Since 2020, the focus of my research has been the development of a more complete understanding of the Greek communities in various cities and towns as well as in numerous villages across the vilayet of Aidin (Smyrna) between 1864-1922.

The following areas are only a few of the places included in my research: Smyrna, Cordelio, Numfaion, Vourla, Krhnh (Cesme), Kato Panagia, Agia Paraskevi of Erythraia, Alatsata, Purgi, Karaburnu, Menemen, Magnesia, Tsompanisia, Soma, Kula, Casaba, Salihli, Filadelfeia, Aidin, Tepepoz of Erythraia, Koukloutzas, Papa-Skala, Makri, Mouradie, Chonai, Hamza-Beili, Sevdikioi, Ali-Aga, Arap-Tsiflik, Sokia, Burnova, Agios Georgios Aidiniou, Megalo Moldovani, Nazle, Denizli, Mugla.

In addition, I have done extended research in the following surnames:

a. Kaloutas or Caloutas from Smyrna / Chios

b. Ioannou Families from Smyrna

c. Georgiou Families from Smyrna
